Black & White Test Page

Grayscale gradient test with text clarity samples. Ideal for evaluating black ink density.

Optimizing Black & White Print Quality

Black and white printing requires precision in grayscale rendering and ink density. A dedicated B&W test ensures your text is crisp and your monochrome images have deep blacks without casting color tints.

Black Ink Density Check

Check the solid black regions for "graying" or patchiness. Rich blacks require a clean nozzle and the correct paper settings (Plain Paper vs. Glossy) to ensure the ink absorbs correctly.

Grayscale & Shadow Detail

The grayscale ramp identifies if your printer is losing detail in the shadows. If the darkest boxes blend together, your contrast settings may be too high or your black cartridge is underperforming.

Text Sharpness & Legibility

Fuzzy text often points to a misalignment or a "draft" print setting. Our font size test helps you verify that even 6pt or 8pt text is readable without bleeding or smudging.

Monochrome Neutrality

Sometimes "black" prints look slightly blue or brown. This happens when the printer mixes colors to create gray. A pure B&W test helps you identify if you should force "Print in Grayscale" for neutral results.
